Dear colleagues,
I’m delighted to announce an application-only early-career workshop, addressing the question: ‘How can social science improve global health? Interrogating the role of research in international policy’. This will take place in Edinburgh city centre on the 18th October. The speakers are as follows:
Dr. Sudeepa Abeysinghe, Lecturer in Global Health Policy, U. Edinburgh,
Dr. Anthony Costello, Director of the Department of Maternal, Newborn, Child and Adolescent Health, WHO
Prof. Liz Grant, Personal Chair of Global Health and Development, Director of the Global Health Academy, and Assistant Principal for Global Health, U. Edinburgh
Dr. David Reubi, Wellcome Trust Fellow, KCL
The workshop will be an afternoon event, in which 25 ECRs (i.e. PhD students and recent postdoctoral scholars) will present 5 min work-in-progress presentations, with feedback from the speakers. Following the workshop, there will be a public panel discussion.
The event is funded by the British Academy, via a Rising Star Engagement Award; more information, including a schedule and application information, can be found at the following link:
http://www.crfr.ac.uk/assets/Workshop-event-MP.pdf
I’d be very grateful if you could please circulate to any of doctoral or postdoctoral researchers who might be interested in attending.
Thank you very much!
All best wishes,
Martyn
