Dear Film Studies Tutors,
At Roehampton University, BA Film we require teaching cover for our up and coming Autumn term for an expert in Film Studies. The module is "Thinking About Film' and is delivered on a Tuesday morning from 9.00 - 100 on the Roehampton main campus in Southlands, south west London SW15. The usual duties of delivery and marking will apply and materials are ready to deliver, below is a brief description of this Level 5 ( second year) module. If you are interested and can join us at such late notice please e mail Jeremy Bubb Programme Convenor for BA Film on [log in to unmask] I look forward to hearing from you.
This module introduces students to a selection of key thinkers whose writings and ideas have influenced the development of film studies. Designed as an accessible introduction to a range of critical and theoretical writings on film and the cinema, it examines the work of these writers in a social, cultural and historical context. The module is designed to acquaint students with a number of different methodological approaches by extending their knowledge and understanding of the work of some of the important thinkers they may have encountered in Year 1 (e.g. Sergei Eisenstein and André Bazin), and to introduce them to a range of names and perspectives they may not yet be familiar with (e.g. Boleslaw Matuszewski, Ricciotto Canudo, Elie Faure, Jean Epstein, Bertolt Brecht, Jean-Louis Comolli, Jean Narboni, Laura Mulvey, and Gilles Deleuze). In addition to its core academic activities, the module actively promotes research, essay writing and group presentational skills.
Kind regards Jeremy Bubb, BA Film, Roehampton University London.
