Lecturer in Criminology, The Open University (Fixed term)
Unit: Faculty of Arts and Social Science (FASS)
Salary: £32,548 to £47,722
Location: Milton Keynes
Please quote reference: 13964
Fixed-term contract until 31 July 2019

Criminology at The Open University has entered a period of considerable expansion as it progresses a series of exciting new teaching and research initiatives: a cutting-edge BA (Hons.) in Criminology and an MA in Crime and Justice are major curriculum developments, while we have recently launched the Harm and Evidence Research Collaborative, as a major focus for our research into crime, harm and criminalisation.
In this context, we are seeking to appoint a temporary full-time Lecturer in Criminology to help to shape these exiting initiatives and, more broadly, the direction of the discipline at The Open University. You will be located in Social Policy & Criminology, which is part of the newly-formed School of History, Religious Studies, Sociology, Social Policy and Criminology.
We welcome applicants with expertise in any aspect of criminology, ‘crime’ and criminalisation, but would be particularly keen to see applications from those with interests in post/counter-colonial criminology and / or Southern Criminology.
You will have (or be close to completing) a PhD, or equivalent, in criminology or a cognate discipline, recent relevant teaching experience and the ability to produce text and online distance teaching materials.
If you would like to discuss the post please contact Professor Steve Tombs, Discipline Lead, by emailing our Academic Support at [log in to unmask]
