Applications are invited for a Scientific Officer in NMR Metabolomics in the NMR Facility within the Faculty of Life Sciences and Medicine at King’s College London.
The NMR Facility forms part of the Centre for Biomolecular Spectroscopy and following a £3M award from the Wellcome Trust, British Heart Foundation and King’s College London, we are establishing a state-of-the-art facility to conduct research in a number of metabolic profiling areas.
The NMR Facility comprise a total of 4 NMR spectrometers: 800MHz, 700MHz, 600MHz and 400MHz. The metabolomic work will make use of Bruker 700MHz and 600MHz spectrometers equipped with cold probes, HR-MAS capabilities and SampleJet autochangers. Further infrastructure will comprise a liquid handling robot and high specification computational infrastructure.
The successful candidate will contribute to fulfilling the research objectives of the NMR Facility, in particular the application of NMR spectroscopy for a variety of metabolic phenotyping investigations. These will include small-scale targeted metabolic profiling studies to large-scale human biofluid and tissue samples for bio-marker identification and personalized medicine investigations. Primarily the role will include sample management, preparation and data collection of NMR-based metabolomics studies, collaboration with researchers within and external to the university and training of other scientists.
Applicants should hold a PhD degree and postdoctoral experience, with significant hands-on experience in NMR spectroscopy, NMR sample preparation and NMR-based metabolomics analysis.
The selection process will include a presentation and a panel interview.
