Dear all,
Register now to save your space!
The Information Management Service at Gloucestershire County Council is hosting a children’s records conference on Tuesday 24th October at Shire Hall in Gloucester. It’s free and all are welcome, but spaces are limited!
Since 2015, the Information Management Service has been running an exciting project to improve the accessibility of the Council’s historical children’s records. This Historical Children’s Records Project (HCRP) acts as a response to the instruction issued by the Independent Inquiry into Child Sexual Abuse (IICSA) to retain and make available children’s records that may aid the Inquiry.
The HCRP has focussed upon improving the accuracy and general quality of entries for files indexed on our records management and archive databases, as well as ensuring all files are classified and retained appropriately. To date, the project has processed 20,000 files and uncovered the good, bad and ugly of records management practices across the decades!
We know that other organisations are also grappling with the task of retaining children-related records and are undertaking or planning similar projects. This conference will be an opportunity for us to share the knowledge and experience we’ve gained with our colleagues.
The full-day conference will include presentations by colleagues from Gloucestershire County Council’s Information Management and Archives Services, as well as Julia Jones the Head of Information Management at the IICSA. Lunch and refreshments will be provided, and the full agenda will be published within the next few weeks.
Attendance is free but spaces are limited, so please book your place in advance through the eventbrite page here: https://www.eventbrite.com/e/records-management-conference-childrens-records-tickets-37479839208
