This PhD offers exciting opportunities to develop and apply methodological skills in epidemiology/ applied quantitative health research as well as to work with leading national and international collaborators. The studentship will suit someone keen to advance core, transferrable and methodological research skills in applied quantitative health research. Publications and presenting at national and international conferences will be key outputs of the PhD.
This PhD will focus on one of three public health challenges: understanding determinants of multi-morbidity or frailty in older ages; reducing health inequalities in older populations; and social and biological determinants of oral health in later life. The proposed themes have important implications for improving the health and well-being of older people and for advancing newer research fields of ageing, particularly, epidemiological studies of oral health and ageing.
