Hi David,
In our Trust, users are expected to re-certify every 2 years. We have over 2,500 staff registered to use the glucose meters which means that yearly re-certification is just not manageable. There are only two of us in the POCT team currently so we rely on training sessions provided by the company, and the nominated ward cascade trainers (2 per ward) to cascade training and competency check their colleagues. In future we are hoping to set up e-learning for re-certification, along with competency checks for patient and QC testing with the cascade trainers.
Kind Regards,
Gemma

I expect that this has done the rounds on the forum before, but ...................
Q - What interval do people set for recertification for users of glucose POCT meters?
