Information Governance Analyst
Right now, data is driving all kinds of exciting changes at Sainsbury’s. As an Information Governance Analyst, you’ll make sure we can get the best from a wealth of information.
Put simply, you’ll ensure that customer, colleague and commercial data is protected. You’ll see to it that a range of teams across our Data & Analytics Centre of Excellence and the wider business apply company policy, and adhere to legal and regulatory frameworks on data management.
But this role goes far beyond compliance. It’s about working out how we can appropriately enable the use of data in a trusted and well managed way. In other words, you will actively empower the business through the use of information.
Passionate about making sure we do right thing by customers, you’ll make sure we only use information in line with their wishes, as well as the law. Along the way, you will work with people from across the organisation, making use of a broad range of data from diverse sources.
You will work particularly closely with the team which owns GDPR for Sainsbury’s. You’ll make a valuable contribution to support their customer, colleague and commercial data clinics. GDPR will be a major area of focus for you, as you help ensure the business is ready for its implementation.
The huge scope for collaboration across the company means there is potential for you to broaden your data management skills or explore legal and regulatory opportunities. We will reward your commitment to changing the game with plenty of support for development.
So what are we looking for? Naturally, you’re someone who takes a great interest in information governance, regulations and law. Proven commercial acumen would be a real advantage. You should demonstrate understanding of how information is used within an organisation like ours - from analytics, to reporting, to data science.
We would prefer you to have experience of enabling and empowering businesses through the use of information, including the implementation of principles, processes and frameworks. We’ll expect you to have experience of managing access control for end users, and applying policy and regulations. Familiarity with GDPR and the Data Protection Act is vital.
What really sets you apart are your communication skills. You have the confidence and ability to make sure everyone in the wider data team is aware of how they should work with data, how they should mark it in terms of company information handling policy, and how they should handle and store it. You will be a proactive champion for the power of information.
