Hello:
Could any of you help me out with a problem? I am looking for a liquid that:
* Is liquid around room temperature or a bit above
* Easily forms a glass on cooling
* Has a weak far-IR spectrum (so should have a small permanent dipole moment)
* Has a weak terahertz depolarised Raman spectrum (so should be weakly anisotropically polarisable and certainly not aromatic)
* Is mildly polar so it can dissolve an ether
Ortho terphenyl is a classic excellent glass former but would have a huge depolarised Raman spectrum. 2-Methylpentane is another classic one but does not dissolve ethers. Any suggestions would be hugely appreciated. Cheers, Klaas
