The programme provides a sound and critical understanding of health and social care policy, theory and practice, and the skills needed for effective practice in a diverse, multidisciplinary environment in a fast-changing care sector, professionals at all levels need to be proactive and flexible to succeed. It has been designed to meet the workforce needs of key partners. Underpinning the programme is the intention to encourage students to link theory, policy and practice in health and social care, for example in line with the NHS Strategic Plan 2016/17, Sustainability and Transformation Plan and the devolved responsibilities to local areas which is one of the government’s flagship policies. The Health and Social Care Act 2012 and the Care Act 2014 form a key feature as will the future opportunities for service delivery in the programme.

The degree will provide a comprehensive and contemporary knowledge base that will equip students to think critically and enable them to contribute creatively in a wide range of employment contexts, in the public, private and third sector.

Modules include:
40 credit Dissertation
20 credit Leadership and Change in Health and Social Care
20 credit Life Cycle Perspectives
20 credit Sociology Divisions and Social Policy of Health and Social Care
20 credit Mental Health and Wellbeing

Students can progress onto the Top-up from our current HND in Health and Social Care with the intention to validate a Foundation Degree in Health and Social Care in 2017-18 under Hull College Group Foundation Degree Awarding Powers. The External Examiner will also play an integral part in the development of this programme.

I look forward to hearing from you.

Kind Regards
Leanne
