British Academy Postdoctoral Fellowships at the School of Histories,

The University of Liverpool’s School of Histories, Languages & Cultures
invites expressions of interest for the 2015/16 British Academy
Postdoctoral Fellowship scheme. These awards offer opportunities for
outstanding early career researchers to strengthen their experience of
research and teaching in a university environment – further information,

Staff in the Department of History include a wide range of scholars who
work on Britain and Europe, together with expertise in the history of
Africa, the Americas, Asia (including India and China), Australia, and
the Atlantic and Mediterranean worlds. The department has also provided
a unique and specialised environment for archival education for over 60
years. Our department boasts a wide-ranging temporal reach, from the
medieval through to the early modern, later modern, and contemporary eras.
The department is an active participant in the School’s
inter-disciplinary research centres, including the Centre for the Study
of International Slavery, the Centre for Medieval and Renaissance
Studies and the Eighteenth-Century Worlds research centre. Since 2010,
we have been part of the School of Histories, Languages and Cultures,
one of four Schools in the Faculty of Humanities and Social Sciences.
The School also includes the departments of Modern Languages & Cultures,
Irish Studies, Politics, and Archaeology, Classics and Egyptology.
Those interested in applying for a Fellowship at the University of
Liverpool are invited to submit expressions of interest to
[log in to unmask] by 5pm on Wednesday 4th September 2017, consisting of
the following:
· CV (2 pages max) and a list of publications (1 page max)
· an outline (2 pages max) of the research proposal, including
intended publication outputs
· 100-word abstract
· Identification of potential mentor
Applicants supported by Department and School will be informed by 8th
September. All shortlisted candidates will be invited to attend a
Faculty workshop w/c 18th September (date to be confirmed), which will
include presentations and advice about the scheme and give candidates
the opportunity to meet with their chosen mentor.
Following the workshop, candidates will be invited to send a full draft
application for final peer-review and selection by the Faculty. Selected
candidates to put an application forward to the BA with the University
of Liverpool will be notified by 3rd October (BA deadline: 18th October).
