Publishing Services Manager
From Magna Carta to the latest Act of Parliament, be a part of the ongoing development of UK law. The Legislation Services Team at The National Archives is responsible for the operation of legislation.gov.uk, the official home of UK legislation. A free service covering all legislation governing the UK from 1267 up to the present day, it is a vital resource which has transformed public access to the law. Millions of people turn to us each month when they need to read, quote or cite legislation, and legislation.gov.uk is the place where new legislation is published first.
About the role
This is your chance to help lead the development of public access to legislation in the UK. As Publishing Services Manager, you'll be responsible for overseeing our world-leading online publishing system. The Legislation Publishing service is a business-critical system for government. The ability to make new legislation, including emergency legislation, is dependent on this service, and it is our responsibility to ensure that it is made available to the public as quickly and accurately as possible.
About You
[*] You will have a strong track record in managing publishing or technical services in a complex and challenging service environment, with strict deadlines and a range of external stakeholders, demonstrating excellent interpersonal skills and political sensitivity.
[*] You will be comfortable working with senior government lawyers, policy officials and legislative drafting lawyers, as well as clerks in the various Parliaments and Assemblies in the UK.
[*] You will have a wide range of product ownership, project and contract management skills, a strong interest in legislation and the technologies that underpin legislation publishing.
[*] You'll need experience of working on technical and digital services, with the drive to innovate in order to maintain high quality standards and get the maximum value for money from a range of services.
[*] In addition, we are looking for someone who is personable, flexible, willing to learn, detail-focused, a great team player - whilst being able to work independently - and an ability to convey complicated technical ideas in an easy to understand way. Any first-hand experience of working with legal or regulatory materials is ideal. However, as important is a genuine passion, interest and understanding of what we're trying to achieve.
Salary: £35,000 - £45,000
