Whilst technically correct, Keith did ask for explanation in the simplest
of terms, and I think this is one of the areas where jiscmail's interface,
despite its many positive features, leaves something to be desired.
For anyone else wondering, the steps you need to take are:
(1) Follow that link at the bottom of each list email:
https://www.jiscmail.ac.uk/cgi-bin/webadmin?A0=archives-nra
This takes you to the home page for the list.
(2) If you aren't already logged-in to jiscmail, login using
the link towards the right of the page.
(3) If you had to login, you will now have been taken to a completely
different page. So click on that link again, or find your way
back to the archives-nra page.
(4) Click on the 'subscribe or unsubscribe' link at the top-left
(5) You're now on a page full of options. Scroll to the bottom. You'll
see one that says 'mail delivery suspended temporarily'. Check that
box, then hit the 'update options' button.
Undo all that again when you need to re-enable delivery. So far as I
can see, you need to do this for each list. If there is a way to
suspend all the lists you are on, I'm not aware of it. It's possible
that it can be accomplished via the 'my settings' tab in the subscriber's
corner but I've not tried it.
