Dear Colleagues,
Can I bring to your attention a Book Industry Communication (BIC) breakfast event in London in July?
This is a short briefing on the issues around privacy for libraries (of all kinds) that use RFID as part of their service delivery model, in the context of potential upcoming EU legislation which may become UK law.
The briefing will outline the issues and what BIC has been doing with libraries, system vendors and with advice from bodies like the Information Commissioner's Office to mitigate any impact of new laws.
I am speaking at this event (but don't be put off by that!) along with a senior librarian from a public library, a consultant expert in this area and an RFID vendor.
Refreshments will be provided. The event is free of charge to libraries which are BIC members and at low cost (just under £16 including VAT) to non-members.
