A great opportunity has arisen to join a small but very dynamic and busy team working on GIS and other business platforms, at Surrey Heath Borough Council, situated in the south east of England in Camberley. Surrey Heath is a vibrant shire district ranging in character from open heathland and villages in the east of the borough to the more urban areas of Camberley and Frimley in the west.
Based at Surrey Heath House, the successful candidate will enjoy working in a friendly team and will join the organisation at a time of fast paced change in our technology provision. Being able to demonstrate a strong working knowledge of a range of GIS platforms is essential as is the ability to work with large volumes of data. The candidate will be highly computer literate and familiar with a range of platforms such as FME and Postgres database servers. Surrey Heath is moving a significant amount of its technology onto cloud platforms and a working knowledge of Amazon Web Services and Microsoft's Azure platform is advantageous. You will also become involved in deployment of mobile technology and other platforms such as Box, our new content and collaboration platform.
The candidate will also manage the Authority's Local Land and Property Gazetteer and handle requests for street naming and numbering from property developers.
Are you highly computer literate and familiar with off-premise and cloud computing platforms? Can you work effectively with a small team and contribute to the new technology agenda at the Council? Do you possess a good degree of self-motivation and an interest in modernising business platforms? Are you skilled in geospatial data management, map production and use of 'geo-services'? Would you be prepared to impart your knowledge by participating / networking at national and regional events? Some coding skills (scripting such as Python, PHP etc.) would be advantageous.
