We are looking for an Interaction Lab Consultant – StartUX project lead to join our team of people working on the CASTS project. StartUX’s role is to provide User Experience (UX) support to London based digital tech start-ups and SMEs in order to help them in growing their businesses. CASTS is an EU-funded project in collaboration with Capital Enterprise (CE) and others to strengthen the growth environment for SMEs in London. Our particular responsibility is to support digital tech companies in London to develop and test their world class technology/product, thus achieving market traction, raise seed investment and prove their business models.
The role holder will support the activities of the City Interaction Lab within the School of Mathematics, Computer Science and Engineering to achieve the goals of the CASTS project. Primary responsibilities include business development (e.g. promoting StartUX activities through social media, talks, meetings and setting up events, building a network of contacts within the London SME community, and liaising with potential clients), providing StartUX services (e.g. conducting expert reviews, guerrilla testing, and designing and delivering short training courses) and assisting in the management of the Interaction Lab (e.g. assisting the Lab Manager in maintaining the lab, dealing with clients and bookings, assist with providing services, etc.)
We are looking to recruit someone with good knowledge of UX and HCI, with at least a 2:1 degree in a technology related field. We expect familiarity with business development, and experience of User-Centred Design and designing and carrying our usability evaluations. Experience working with startups and SME, training or coaching, visual design, social media and marketing strategy as well as project planning are a plus.
We are looking for a candidate who has a proactive approach to work with excellent verbal and written communication and interpersonal skills, with an eye for developing visually pleasing material. This candidate should enjoy working as part of a team and be highly organized with an attention to detail.
