2 Day Conference: People Centred Development Approaches in Practical and Learning Environments
14th/15th September 2017, Science Central Campus, Newcastle University
People-centred approaches: creating student access to company experience
This two-day event offers practical advice and guidance on developing collaborations
between Higher Education and companies or third sector organisations. If you
aim to stimulate entrepreneurial skills and introduce challenges in new
technology areas (such as green energy, sustainable transport, new and
sustainable production methods, novel materials etc.), then come along and
learn from those who ‘can do’
Through case studies and workshops with partners, the event will guide you towards developing your own collaborative engagement activities, offering in-depth training in how to initiate, nurture and develop collaborative learning between Higher Education and industry, with a particular focus on bringing social science research into product design. How can we ‘train’ entrepreneurs? What kind of collaboration is needed for defining R&D goals, mentoring students, locating expert knowledge, or evaluating outcomes?
We will explore the opportunities for and of collaborative learning; the pitfalls and lessons for building collaborative relationships, and the potential outcomes and benefits for all parties.
Attendance is free of charge but must be booked via: www.https://www.eventbrite.co.uk/e/people-centred-approaches-creating-student-access-to-company-experience-tickets-36100378203
Organisers: Prof Sandra Bell and Dr Simone Abram, Durham Energy Institute, Durham University.
