Research Grant for PhD Holders
One research grant for PhD Holders is now available in project "Urban TB - Modelling the Time to
Detection of Urban Tuberculosis, considering individual and contextual delays. Who should we blame?", with the reference: FCT/UID/Multi/04562/2013, funded through Fundação para a Ciência e a Tecnologia (FCT) and Ministério da Ciência, Tecnologia e Ensino Superior (MCTES), under the
following conditions:
Main research field: Epidemiology/Statistics
Requirements:
1. PhD in Biostatistics, Public Health/Epidemiology or similar areas.
2. Strong experience in statistical analysis of databases and working with SPSS and R
3. Enthusiasm for multidisciplinary scientific research and interest in public health issues.
4. Experience in medical writing.
5. Fluent English spoken and written.
Although not essential for the post, some experience in the area of spatial and/or survival analyses
would be beneficial.
Activities plan:
- Statistical analyses of databases, namely spatiotemporal analyses and survival analyses.
- Revision of the literature.
- Scientific support to Tuberculosis Research Line
- Writing of reports and scientific articles.
Legislation and regulations: Research Fellowship Holder Statute; Studentship and Fellowship
Regulations of Fundação para a Ciência e a Tecnologia, I.P. – in force.
Workplace: The activities will be supervised by Professor Carla Nunes at Escola Nacional de Saúde
Pública (Universidade Nova de Lisboa), and co-supervised by Pedro Aguiar and Benjamin Taylor
(Lancaster Medical School).
Duration: The fellowship will have the duration of 12 months, expecting to start on 4 of September
2017.
Monthly amount: The monthly amount of the grant is €1495, in accordance with the values stipulated
by FCT (http://alfa.fct.mctes.pt/apoios/bolsas/valores)Selection Criteria: Selection criteria to be used are the curriculum evaluation (90%), and interview
(10%) if necessary.

Publication of results / notification: The final evaluation results (list sorted by final grade obtained)
will be publicized in a visible and public place of Escola Nacional de Saúde Pública. The successful
