SEMINAR: Weds, 27 September, 2017. London
At this round table event we will discuss the connections between housing policy, austerity and criminalisation. In particular we will consider how gentrification and regeneration has led to the displacement and exclusion of the poor.
Speakers include:
- Housing worker, activist and author, Dr Glyn Robbins, will discuss his recent book There's No Place: The American housing crisis and what it means for the UK.
- Dr Vickie Cooper, The Open University, will reflect on the harms of austerity as detailed in The Violence of Austerity.
- Maureen Mansfield, voluntary sector practitioner and organiser with the Reclaim Holloway coalition, will draw on her experiences supporting women in criminal justice system.
This interdisciplinary event will be of interest to researchers, housing activists and practitioners.
