Cambridge University Library is one of the greatest libraries in the world, with extraordinary special collections of global significance that power the research aims of the University. The archives and modern manuscripts include major scientific collections (amongst them the papers of Isaac Newton and Charles Darwin), business and institutional archives, estate papers, the personal papers of scholars, politicians, writers and musicians, and all of the University Archives - the official records of the University dating from the thirteenth century onwards.
This senior post will play a critical role in the future success of the Library's special collections. It offers an exciting opportunity for an outstanding individual to join a dynamic and expert team and to make a mark by enhancing the contribution to scholarship at Cambridge, nationally and internationally, through one of the world's great collections of archives and modern manuscripts.
We are seeking to appoint a proactive professional to lead on all aspects of the Library's archives and modern manuscripts, enabling better means of access to them online and onsite, establishing an ambitious acquisitions programme and responding to the challenges of collecting and maintaining digital records for research.
