Dear all
Just in response to a couple of enquiries, here's a reminder and an update:
1. You DO NOT have to attend the conference or the AGM in order to be proposed for election to the SRN Executive. You just need to send your statement to Prof. Kathryn Millard (see below), with 2 proposers. we'll let you know if you get in!
2. Similarly you don't have to attend the AGM in person to vote in any election. You can email your vote to Prof. Millard, in confidence, after the nominations have closed and she has informed the Network of those standing for election.
3. Last - we'd very much like to encourage new researchers and those who have not stood before, to stand. You have to have been an SRN member for a year, but that's the only qualification! Please consider giving up a little time for the SRN over a 2-year period (and it looks good on the CV!). Let me know if you have any specific questions.
Here's the info again:
At this AGM, under Section 5 of the SRN constitution (2014) we will receive nominations for members of the Executive Council of the SRN, for which there are THREE vacancies. Section 5.7 of the constitution says:
5.7. Nominations for election to the Executive Council, and supporting
statements, must be made by members of the Association in writing, and must be in the hands of the Association’s Secretary at least four weeks before the date of the election. These nominations and statements must be available to the Association’s membership no later than 14 days before the date of the election. Should nominations exceed vacancies, there shall be an election by secret ballot.
As the Secretary, I have asked Prof. Kathryn Millard to act as Elections Officer, to receive nominations for the Exec Council, and to impartially oversee the appointment of new members, including management of an election if held.
So, if you wish to stand for election to the Exec, please send a Statement of no more than 250 words supporting your nomination, plus the names and contact details for a Proposer and Seconder, by 17th July 2017 to Prof Millard, at [log in to unmask]
Please consider standing - I can assure you it is a very pleasurable task, involving monthly skype chats and light duties!
Best wishes
Ian
