MedSoc Early Career
Pre-Conference Event
Tuesday 12th September, afternoon
York University
The BSA Medical Sociology group is pleased to announce an event for PhD students and post-doctoral researchers working in medical sociology. The afternoon event offers delegates the opportunity to meet peers working in the medical sociology discipline prior to the main-conference. This year we have talks focusing on success with grants/fellowships, maintaining a strong publishing profile and varied avenues for impact.
Dr Kehinde Andrews will provide a keynote that offers important reflections on contemporary academia and sociology.
The event will include presentations on:
* Publishing - with Kayleigh Garthwaite, author of 'Hunger Pains: life inside foodbank Britain'.
* Grant applications - with Kylie Baldwin, successful applicant for the Mildred Blaxter Fellowship - Foundation for the Sociology of Health and Illness.
* Dissemination and academic activism - with Oli Williams, co-founder of the Act With Love art collective.
* What ECRs need to know about REF.
In addition to a roundtable discussion on post-doctoral careers.
