Hi Carl
Previously we've had no choice but to be part of a centralised induction schedule but this year we're able to take a new approach so we're instead doing the following:
- Incorporating library content in the Unismart drama performance all students are invited to
- Running an events and activity programme for induction week with freebies to attract students in
- Installing augmented reality support near areas where students might need help (laptop self-service, automated shelving etc.)
- Increasing the number of student ambassadors on hand to help students in the first few weeks and again when students start tackling first assigments
- Regular dropin tours and inductions for the first few weeks
- Strong promotion of the online support available via our libguides and social media
- Essentially pushing embedded sessions in courses as the way to go and "just in time" support in the building rather than mandatory inductions
Feel free to get in touch if you wanted to know more or had any questions.
Kind regards
