*APOLOGIES FOR CROSS POSTING*
Dear All
I am currently working on a project where I am assessing how to obtain increased value from existing and new content that we purchase, through our promotion and engagement activities.
The content that we are looking to promote is wide-ranging, from digital archives containing primary sources to our e-book collections.
I am especially keen to identify ways in how we can increase the use of our resources, by linking them to teaching and research themes across the University, and so increase knowledge of our resources to academics (and students). Additionally, I am also looking at our process for new product trials and their management.
I would be interested in learning of any examples of successful resource promotion/engagement activities which they are willing to share with me, or if you have worked on similar projects. The focus at the moment is on the content that we buy/subscribe to, rather than the digital collections that we create.
I am currently looking at the following proposals but am keen to hear of all promotion/engagement activities:-
* Examples of where resources have been linked to teaching programmes or research projects across the University, and how this has been achieved (e.g. creating themed research collections, using data from research systems to link research projects with our resources)
* Use of student/academic ambassadors for the promotion of resources and outreach activities in Schools
* Development of marketing plans/campaigns for newly acquired content [as part of the business case for purchasing them]
* Promotion of e-books through physical books (e.g. QR codes, book ends, signposting at physical location >>e-location)
* Cross promoting resources through discovery tools (based on searching history, metadata, recommendations, enrichment services) using global or local data
* Working with Special Collections to link physical collections to purchased digital archives as a means to promote digital archives
* I am also interested in knowing other institutions' process for trial management (how a decision is made to proceed, promotion of trials, evaluation etc).
I am happy to discuss on or off list.
Many thanks in advance.
