Call for applications for a leadership position at the IMIA NI SIG Student and emerging professional (SEP) group
The International Medical Informatics Association - Nursing Informatics Special Interest Group – Student and emerging professional (IMIA NI SIG SEP) group is seeking our next Chair-Elect.
The Chair-Elect is elected every year and works with the Chair to learn about the group activities in preparation for being a group chair the following year. The Chair-Elect is expected to attend and alternatively lead monthly online meetings and be the secondary contact for the SEP group.
Advantages of being a leader in the IMIA NI SIG SEP
Our group has been very successful since our start in 2012, with numerous scientific outputs that have helped build our CVs - some of these nominated for awards. As older leadership members move forward with their careers, we need to establish a strong leadership group to ensure that the momentum and productivity of the group continues. Among our previous leadership and country representative members, we have had people go on to do Postdoctoral Fellowships at Harvard Medical School and Brigham and Women’s Hospital, secure tenure-track Faculty positions (after an interview - and a pass - at Harvard!), and get industry jobs at places like IBM.
This is a great opportunity to build an international network, share experiences, learn from others, and collaborate on international research projects. It is also an invaluable opportunity to connect with international leaders, as we work closely with nursing informatics pioneers like Dr. Diane Skiba (current Chair of IMIA NI SIG) and Dr. Hyeoun-Ae Park (current President of IMIA), among many others.
How we work
We have monthly online meetings and we communicate through email. We are one of the most active and only student and emerging professional working group in IMIA.
You are not alone: Old leadership members will continue to advise, actively participate in the group, and support newer members even though they step aside from their leadership positions.
If you have an idea and want to take leadership in a nursing informatics initiative, this group can help make that happen!
We hope you seriously consider joining us and nominate yourself or a colleague for the role of chair-elect.
To sign up for the position, please send the following materials by email to our secretary Lori Block ([log in to unmask]) by Friday the 9th of June.
A statement (<500 words) of why you would be suitable for the role, your vision for the group during your time as Chair-elect and Chair, and how you will accomplish this vision
A brief biography (<200 words)
A copy of your CV, highlighting experience in previous leadership roles (<500 words for the role)
