www.StatsJobs.com
The Marine Management Organisation (MMO) is an executive non-departmental public body sponsored by the Department for Environment, Food and Rural Affairs. We licence, regulate and plan marine activities in the seas around England so that they’re carried out in a sustainable way.
The Statistics and Analysis team provides analysis to support the delivery of operational activities and policy development in the commercial fisheries and marine sector. We work closely with a range of internal and external stakeholders to ensure we deliver high quality, high impact analysis.
Job description
This is an exciting opportunity to apply your analytical skills to produce analysis with real impact. Working closely with policy and analytical colleagues you will identify, quality assure and analyse data of UK commercial fisheries activities. You will support Defra and the MMO’s preparations for the United Kingdom leaving the European Union. The role is fast paced, where deadlines are challenging and attention to detail is crucial. You will be expected to present your findings to customers and be able to defend the methods used to produce an analysis. Much of our work in this area is novel and so innovation is key to ensure we meet our customers requests.
There are three aspects to these roles: working with MMO operations staff to ensure that the MMO is prepared for the changes on and after day 1 of leaving the EU; preparing datasets and analysis for publication in line with the UKSA Code of Practice for Official Statistics; and, working with Defra to ensure their EU exit negotiating position is based on sound and defensible evidence.
