Hi Dee
On the intranet, we have written a re-competency document that consist of three parts.
The first part is a refresh of the pertinent information.
The second is multi choice questions.
The third part is completed by POCT staff, we mark the questions and then review the users sample record on Gemweb against predefined "successful" criteria. If the pass all of thee=se we re-certify.
If they fail either 2 or 3 then they have to have a face to face session with one of the team. This approach was acceptable to UKAS.
Hope that helps

Subject: [SPAM] User re-certification for Blood GAs Analysers
Hi,
Just wanted to know how POCT Teams manage re-certification of staff for the Blood Gas machines. For us this is very challenging especially when there are thousands of staff and UKAS require an observed test as part of the assessment. We’ve almost completed an e-learning package for the GEM 5000 Analysers and not sure if this is going to be enough to meet the ISO standards.
If you can let me know how you do this (practical sessions and/or e-learning) and over what time period. What’s the uptake of the practical sessions? How do you monitor staff coming up for expiry? How do staff know they’re coming up for expiry?
All you’re comments welcome!
Thanks
