Piecemaker 2 Video Notation and Performance Scoring Software Workshop
Tuesday June 13, 10:00-13:30
Lumley Studio
Piecemaker is a software that assists in notating and scoring video recordings of performance, and sharing this information with others. It was initiated as a research project by The Forsythe Company member David Kern to support the organisation and recall of choreographic materials created in the rehearsal studio. In the context of Motion Bank research project (http://motionbank.org/en/content/about), Piecemaker has been reprogrammed for use in the development of online digital scores and as a tool for use in the studio by those working in performance creation and education.
The workshop, conducted by media artist and designer David Rittershaus, will give an introduction to the Motion Bank tools, especially to Piecemaker 2 (PM2). The participants will get access to the current PM2 online tool, an introduction to post-annotation with the software, and will be invited to discuss the possibilities and restrictions of the tool.
