Dear all,
The UCL Hazard Centre is launching a new postgraduate certificate course in NATURAL HAZARDS. The course is designed for professionals who
have a stake in mitigating or managing the impacts and consequences of natural hazards risk on people, communities or businesses. In particular, the course would suit anyone working to reduce the risk from natural hazards in the aid agency, disaster and emergency management, environmental management, business security and continuity, and contingency risk sectors.
Increasing urbanization, growing wealth concentration, climate change and environmental degradation are rapidly raising exposure to natural hazards in the developed and developing world. Growing numbers of stakeholders are thus seeking ways of reducing the risk from natural hazards. This post-graduate certificate programme offers students a better understanding of natural hazards and the means by which their impacts on people, communities and business can be mitigated and managed.
The course is part-time, with out-of-office time in the taught modules limited to 20 afternoons.
