Hi All,
As we know, board games like Jenga, Awele, and Back Gammon are not European objects or inventions.
However, these artefacts have long been assimilated into Western societies and cultures, with companies such as MB Games and Waddingtons rebranding and marketing them as their own inventions to successive generations.
What are your thoughts on the appropriation of and profiteering from these artefacts and can you suggest any similar artefacts that have also been used and appropriated in this way?
Are there any research papers of which you are aware, relating to this topic and do you believe it matters; or is important, to remind people of the history of these artefacts and significance of such profligate crimes?
Regards,
Jason Schumann
