Hi,
We have ours mounted with the back flat against the wall, which makes
life easier but perhaps does not give the best signal coverage. With one
in each corner of the halls, it does make up for that. We have installed
a sturdy metal basket around both the AP and the network socket.
The spacing of the basket has not created a Faraday cage around it,
though I'm not sure if we measured that before we mounted them up. I
know I have hit one full on with a wayward 5-a-side shot and was able to
check that Prime did not register an event.
In other areas where we have mounted APs horizontal with a high ceiling,
our Estates department made us a number of L shaped brackets. We would
need a bigger basket if we ever used these in the sports halls.
Let me know if you want me to grab any photos.
Slightly related, has anyone ever used APs in sports halls to track
players for any sports stats and did your sports departments find that
useful or reliable?
Yours
Dave Hartburn
