Dear all,

There are still spaces available on the below training day and we've extended the deadline for bookings to 12 noon on Tuesday 16 May:

Calling all community groups in Glasgow who create and look after their own collections!

Event Title: Glasgow’s Communities: Caring for your Collections

Summary:

Glasgow City Archives and Glasgow Museums Open Museum will be running a FREE community groups training day for the city on Wednesday 17 May 2017. Whatever type of collection your group manages, you’ll find something of interest here. This free event will provide an opportunity for community groups within Glasgow to meet one another, find out about the professional organisations which can help them, and hear about the experiences of other groups.

Subjects will include:

•	Documenting your collections
•	Storing your archives and objects
•	Cataloguing your collections
•	Providing physical access to your archives and objects
•	Managing digital records.

Our speakers represent a wide range of professional organisations and community groups. They include the Archives and Records Association Community Archives and Heritage Group; Glasgow City Archives; the Glasgow HF Outdoor Club; Glasgow Museums Open Museum; Govanhill Baths Trust; Lambhill Stables and Spirit of Revolt.

Who is the event for? The training day is open to any community group based in Glasgow or Greater Glasgow, which manages its own collections. Groups can be newly established or long-term. Groups which are running a fixed-term project are also warmly welcome at the day. Any member of the group is welcome to attend (including paid heritage officers) although please note that as spaces are limited, only one place per group will be allocated.

Venue: The Mitchell Library, North Street, Glasgow, G3 7DN

Date: Wednesday 17 May 2017

Times: 9.30am – 4.00pm

Cost: Free.

Lunch: This will be provided on the day. Please let us know of any dietary requirements when making your booking.

Booking: Please email [log in to unmask] to book your place giving your name, role and organisation. Please note that as places are limited, only one space per community group will be allocated. However, if you would like to nominate another member of your group for the reserve list, any spaces not allocated by the deadline will be given to reserves on a first-come, first-served basis.

Extended deadline for booking: 12 noon on Tuesday 16 May 2017.

Please pass this message on to anyone whom you think may be interested.

Best wishes,

Barbara McLean
