Hi James
As Mike Ellis has said we're working with him on a new version of our My Collections feature.
We always believe in keeping things simple. So a user can create an account, create a group of objects and share them via social media/email or save the data as a CSV file. They can create as many groups as desired and edit the content. On the previous version of our collections website we had over sixty registered users.
In addition we developed a researcher option. This was part of an Esmee Fairbairn funded project to promote research opportunities with selected groups of objects from our collections. This cunning plan worked and we saw an increase in researchers contacting us via this digital 'shop window'. The curated sets for researchers differed from the public ones in two ways.
One was asking researchers to register as such so we knew they were a researcher. The second was a feature allowing a user with a researcher login to hide a group of objects. This was done based on requests from researchers who didn't want their work to be public until their research was complete and published. We had over thirty registered researchers on our old website. http://rammcollections.org.uk/research-opportunities/
You're welcome to contact me off list if you'd like to know more.
Our current collections site has the My collections feature on but we are still working on it. http://swcollectionsexplorer.org.uk/
Regards
Rick
