A medium sized inn in a local Kent town was closed in 1883 because the
licensee had been "convicted of gaming" and attempts to obtain a new
licence at Quarter Sessions failed because an objector claimed that the
inn had become a "house of bad character". I wondered which court this
offence would have been tried in and whether details or a report of the
trial might be accessible.
Thanks
