Hi All,
We have relaxed and revised the instructions for the ease of students (a student need not be a prior member of IEEE and SMCS while applying for a registration waiver). Please see information below or in the attached poster.
We will provide financial support for up to 25 students, including registration fee waiver and the reimbursement of the IEEE and SMCS student membership fee (for the whole year).
Kindly distribute this call to your friends, colleagues, and other students working on computers/IT/security/privacy/safety, and do encourage them to attend this event.
Thanks.
Kind regards,
Neetesh

The recent spades of cyber security attacks have revealed that cyber security is no longer just a technical issue requiring the expertise of technical experts, but a global phenomenon requiring the attention of every individual across different knowledge domains. To facilitate the spread of cyber security knowledge and awareness, Bournemouth University in conjunction with IEEE SMCS has put together a three-day summer school on “Human Factors in Systems Safety and Security” holding from 5-7 July 2017. The summer school theme is centred around highlighting the role of human factors in enabling a more secure and safe cyberspace.
Who can attend and what will be delivered?
This event will bring together students, researchers, industry practitioners, academicians and other security professionals with an interest in security and privacy. The role of human factors in cyber security as well as the mindset and activities of cyber criminals will be explored. The latest understanding of human factor elements related to safety and security in different systems will also be presented. There will be case studies and presentation of recent research findings from different domains.
Why should you attend this summer school?
Attending this summer school will provide you with academic, social and professional career benefits. The skills and knowledge gained at this summer school will strengthen your CV. You will benefit from the presentations of the latest findings in the field of cyber security and human factors as well as from the interaction with researchers and industry professionals.
