The UCL/LSE Anthropology of Christianity Reading and Research Group presents:
*Christian Collectivities Postgraduate Workshop, Friday 19 May 2017, at UCL Anthropology Department, London, UK*
The workshop will be a day-long panel-led event in which postgraduate and early-career researchers in the anthropology of Christianity will present their work from a range of ethnographic contexts, from Taiwan to Scotland to Southern Africa, on a variety of themes relating to questions of group belonging, relations with religious Others, and shifting personal and collective identities.
Papers on theories of potency among hunter-gatherers in Nambia, the clothing choices of Orthodox women in London, local people's relations with medical missionaries in Zambia, the religious identities of institutional abuse survivors in Ireland, and Pentecostal conversions of armed militants in Nigeria, will be among those featured; addressing some of the discipline's perennial questions of individual and group identity and belonging.
The workshop will conclude with a keynote address from Dr Tom Boylston of the University of Edinburgh.

The Anthropology of Christianity Reading and Research Group has long functioned as a space for research students and early career scholars to discuss their work in progress in a friendly, collegiate environment. It meets regularly in term time in central London; if you are interested in joining the group, email Meadhbh or Katharine (contact details above). We'd love to see you there!
