(with apologies for cross-posting)
SLS are running two events in June which may be of interest to postgraduate students, academics and health or social researchers:
1. One Day Introductory Training Workshop on the Scottish Longitudinal Study (SLS), 7th June 2017, 0930-1630, University of Edinburgh, Geography Building, Drummond St, EH8 9XP
The Scottish Longitudinal Study (SLS) links together routinely collected administrative data for a 5.3% representative sample of the Scottish population (about 270,000 people). It includes a wealth of information from the censuses (1991 to 2011), vital events registrations (births, deaths, marriages), weather and pollution data, and education data from 2007 onwards. The size and scope of the SLS make it an unparalleled resource for analysing a range of socio-economic, demographic and health questions, including those which are based on reasonably rare events. The longitudinal nature of the SLS is particularly valuable, it provides insights into the health and social status of the Scottish population and, how it changes over time.
2. One Day Introductory Training Workshop on Survival Analysis, 8th June 2017, 0915-1700, University of Edinburgh, Geography Building, Drummond St, EH8 9XP
This is a one-day workshop led by SLS Staff (Prof. Gillian Raab) on survival analysis for time to event data. The course is suitable for those with experience of statistical analyses but new to this type of analysis. It would be of particular interest to those considering using the Scottish Longitudinal Study to analyse time to event data.
