Hi Markus,
A search on 'nohup' and 'screen' on the mailing list returned a 3 years
old thread from you so you know as much as I do ;-)

It seems 'nohup' behaves differently on macOS and Linux and I don't know
the details. The advice you got on the FieldTrip mailing list to to use
Caffeine (http://lightheadsw.com/caffeine/) might be a sufficient
workaround.
