I'm a bit late responding, we only found out when we checked our Athens access to various publishers. We don't have many Ingenta journals so opted for the shared userid and password route. Certainly weren't prepared to pay more.

Thank you so much to everyone for sharing your experiences. I appreciate you taking the time to respond.
I share the same concerns about this as have been quite widely expressed, so it helps to know we are not alone in this as for us it will mean having to make a difficult decision in relation to our users access as we do not use ezproxy.
Have a good weekend all -
Verity

Just to note that we opted not to join the 'Library Membership' scheme and we utilise EzProxy to access e-journals. Introducing charges for free and open source Shibboleth and SUSHI reporting as a 'benefit' seemed rich.

I would also agree with this.
We hadn't actually received any information about this at all, so it's a good job that we use EzProxy!!

I agree Rachel with respect to precedent.

We were made aware, but decided against joining - we don't have many Ingenta subs and it's not worth it. Also, it's setting a bad precedent!

Subject: [lis-e-resources] Ingenta connect Library Membership
Hello all,
I have just tried to update some of our authentication details on the Ingenta connect platform and have found that where we have previously had institutional authentication via shibboleth this is now only available if we take 'Library Membership' at an additional cost to our subscriptions.
This seems to have been introduced in late 2016 and I am not quite sure how/why we weren't made aware of it previously.
I would be interested to know on/off list experiences elsewhere - were you made aware of this change and have you decide for or against taking membership?
Many thanks,
Verity
