Hi there,
Ingenta actually called me a few days ago to ask if we were planning on taking out a membership so it looks as though they're starting to contact institutions directly for feedback on this rather controversial decision. We're not planning on taking out a membership and the feedback I gave is that our budget could be better spent elsewhere and I don't think core platform functionality should be on a membership-only basis. They did ask what we were doing with regards to authentication and seemed quite surprised that we are using EZProxy.
I agree that this move will be detrimental to those publishers who host their content on Ingenta.
Best Wishes

Hi Verity
Same here. I don't recall seeing anything saying our OpenAthens access would disappear unless we paid Ingenta. We won't be paying extra for Ingenta's 'Library Membership' and I don't think that we will be alone in this. It is rather unfortunate for the publishers who pay to have their journals on Ingenta since it will certainly drive down their usage figures and make them more likely to be cancelled because of it.
Regards

Subject: [lis-e-resources] Ingenta connect Library Membership
Hello all,
I have just tried to update some of our authentication details on the Ingenta connect platform and have found that where we have previously had institutional authentication via shibboleth this is now only available if we take 'Library Membership' at an additional cost to our subscriptions.
This seems to have been introduced in late 2016 and I am not quite sure how/why we weren't made aware of it previously.
I would be interested to know on/off list experiences elsewhere - were you made aware of this change and have you decide for or against taking membership?
Many thanks,
Verity
