Hi,
Many thanks for the responses.
I am inclined to agree on the point of the features covered by the membership really being core functionality as far as we our concerned - I am also frustrated at only finding out now as this may have had an impact on our decisions had we known at the time we were processing our renewals.
Thanks again all,
Verity

Hi Verity,
No, I didn't get the email when they initially sent it round, but a friend at another library did and they forwarded it to me - so I was aware of the changes, but in a roundabout way. No, we aren't taking out a membership. Our budget is very tight and we can't really justify spending money on stuff that's not actual content. I also don't want to encourage the precedent of charging us to conveniently access our subscribed content; as far as I'm concerned, these membership "benefits" are the sort of basic functionality that should be included in our subscription, without having to pay extra.
Sincerely,
Grumpy of Aberystwyth!
Cheers,
Tom

Subject: [lis-e-resources] Ingenta connect Library Membership
Hello all,
I have just tried to update some of our authentication details on the Ingenta connect platform and have found that where we have previously had institutional authentication via shibboleth this is now only available if we take 'Library Membership' at an additional cost to our subscriptions.
This seems to have been introduced in late 2016 and I am not quite sure how/why we weren't made aware of it previously.
I would be interested to know on/off list experiences elsewhere - were you made aware of this change and have you decide for or against taking membership?
Many thanks,
Verity
