The Digital Preservation Coalition is delighted to announce that cloud-based web and social media archiving solution provider MirrorWeb is the latest addition to its new Commercial Supporter programme.
MirrorWeb’s archiving technology is used to help organisations create useable archives of all electronic communications, and robust web content monitoring tools ensure that partner approved content remains compliant with digital communications regulations at all times.
The Commercial Supporter Programme enables much greater insight into the needs and requirements of both members and solution providers, and provides an environment for collaboration whilst protecting the independence gained from the DPC’s widely-understood vendor neutrality.
David Clee, Director and co-founder of MirrorWeb says “we look forward to collaborating with DPC members on exciting new technologies, building in digital preservation best practice. We hope that our knowledge of emerging technologies, and our use of cutting edge technologies can help DPC members understand how technology can change the way that memory institutions can structure their activity.”
“We are very encouraged that MirrorWeb is so keen to collaborate with the DPC and its members,” says Chair of the DPC and Deputy Keeper of the Records of Scotland, Laura Mitchell. “Solution providers have always contributed much needed perspectives into the DPC’s discussions on an ad hoc basis, and now the Commercial Supporter programme is enabling a much more meaningful and long-term dialogue to be developed, to the benefit of the entire digital preservation community.”
Funds raised by Commercial Support will be used in first instance to support grants to members for training and staff development as well as the Annual Student conference, to subsidise training workshops or to sponsor DPC membership for charities and not-for-profits.
Any commercial organisation may apply for Supporter status and in return will be invited to participate in and extend the activities of the Coalition, with full acknowledgement of their support provided on the DPC website and in relevant publications. Commercial Supporters also have early access to draft outlines of DPC Technology Watch Reports and other published output, an invitation to an annual trade fare and horizon scanning meeting with DPC members, as well as the opportunity to showcase products and services through webinars and relevant briefing days.
