The University of Cumbria is seeking to appoint an External Examiner with effect from September 2017.
Ideally, interested applicants should have experience of external examining in at least one other Higher Education Institution but this is not compulsory.
The vacancy is for PgCE Primary School Direct and campus-based programmes. You will have responsibility for one of our masters’ level modules ‘High Quality Learning and Teaching’ and also for final school placements. ‘High Quality Learning and Teaching' is undertaken by all of our PgCE students on our campuses in Carlisle, Lancaster and London and by students from our diverse range of school direct alliances. We envisage that you would take on a co-ordinating role for placements: to be responsible for gathering information from two other external examiners who will be visiting schools from our other campuses and produce a report which brings together key points.
Please note that we are unable to accept applications from you if:
• You are a current external examiner with University of Cumbria or have been in the previous four years if you have served a four year term with us
previously;
• You are currently professionally involved with members of the programme team;
• You have been employed within the previous five years by the University or at one of its associate institutions.
