I'd like to draw attention to new and recent Fortran related information
at www.fortran.uk
(1) The compiler comparison charts were updated a couple of months
ago. These charts include
* results on Windows and Linux for 17 Fortran 95 benchamrks using
compilers from Absoft, GNU, Intel, Lahey, NAG, Open 64, PGI and Silverfrost.
* results of 53 tests which show the ability of compilers to
diagnose common run-time error conditions, such as arrays bound errors,
uninitialized variable use etc.
* results of 34 tests which show the Fortran language features
and extensions supported by each compiler.
(2) Details of a major new release (7.10) of plusFORT (see
http://www.fortran.uk/news/), a Fortran programmers' toolkit, which
includes SPAG, GXCHK and other tools. SPAG is the original "spaghetti
unscrambler", but over the years has been extended to include many other
code analysis and re-factoring facilities. There are some short videos
demonstrating the use of plusFORT for a number of tasks, including
restructuring, global static analysis, dynamic analysis and coverage
analysis.
plusFORT is a commercial product, but there is a somewhat restricted
older version (V6.72) which may be used free of charge by academic
institutions for strictly non-commercial projects. For all others, it is
strictly for evaluation purposes only (see
http://www.fortran.uk/plusfort-evaluation-version/). In addition,
there is an on-line F77-F90 converted at
http://fortran.uk/plusfortonline.php.
