Dear Archbot Folks,
I'm happy to be able to announce that we have just posted a link to a our searchable on-line data base of archaeobiological collections we curate. This consists of over 13,000 catalog records of archaeofaunal materials and 5,300 records of archaeobotanical materials. The data base can be searched by catalog number, general collection type (archaeofaunal, archaeobotanical), material type, region, country, site name. We don't have the capability of sorting by taxa yet, though the note field in many records will give you an idea of taxa represented.
You can access the data base by going through the Archaeobiology Program web site: http://anthropology.si.edu/archaeobio/collections.html
or
through the Anthropology Department's web portal for its databases: http://collections.nmnh.si.edu/search/anth/
In either case, go to the tab for Archaeobiology Collections to access the search criteria.
This collection is fully cataloged and accessible for research. Our web site also gives you the link for setting up a visit or other inquiries: http://anthropology.si.edu/cm/visitor_policy.htm
We are very proud of the many year effort to get these collections fully curated, professionally organized and stored, and fully accessible to others. We hope you make use of it.
Best,
