Leicester College, in collaboration with De Montfort University, is seeking to appoint an External Examiner for their BA (Hons) Professional Studies (Creative Industries) programme. The appointment period for this post is initially four years and will commence September 2017.

The programme is a 1 year top-up degree and is primarily intended as a progression route for students successfully completing any of the following internal Level 5 qualifications currently running at Leicester College; FdA Fashion and Costume, FdA Footwear, FdA Artistic Make Up and Special Effects, FdA Photography and Video and FdA Graphics and e Media. In addition, students who have successfully completed a level 5 qualification in a related field at another institution are eligible to apply.

The main purpose of the BA (Hons) Professional Studies (Creative Industries) is to bring together a range of subject disciplines that provide students with the knowledge and skills appropriate to employment within the Creative Industries.

Modules undertaken are as follows;
Professional Practice - a 15 Credit module which builds upon discipline-specific skills and knowledge.

Critical and Creative Enquiry - a 15 Credit module that provides students with an understanding of contemporary culture to encompass the broad visual, design, digital and performative arts.

Professional Development and Project Preparation - a 30 Credit module which enables students to plan and conduct an academically-supervised work-based project that is relevant to their professional practice.

Work Based Project – a 60 credit module which responds directly to the project proposal formulated and developed in the
Professional Development and Project Preparation module. This involves implementing the project to final outcome.

Appointees are responsible for overseeing a number of modules associated with the programme, and are required to moderate a sample of scripts relating to each module and report on these to the module leader. The provision of an annual report to the University would also be expected. Appointees are expected to attend the Programme Assessment Board(s) for their appointed programme.

Please note that the successful candidate will need to be based in the UK, and we are unable to consider nominations from people who do not have External Examiner experience.

Please forward expressions of interest, together with your CV to the Academic Partnerships Unit at [log in to unmask] by 5th May 2017.
