The Operational Research and Statistics Theme within the School of Mathematics at the University of Edinburgh has available an Engineering and Physical Sciences Research Council-funded PhD studentship for start in September 2017. Due to the funding source, only UK students are eligible. The studentship pays tuition and a standard research council stipend.
This studentship can fund research on any topic within the scope of the Theme – more information on group members and research areas may be found at
http://www.maths.ed.ac.uk/ERGO/
and
http://www.maths.ed.ac.uk/school-of-mathematics/research/statistics
Applicants are encouraged to discuss possible research areas with potential supervisors, and to give in their formal application clear statements of their motivation for
research and their preferred area of study. Staff in the Theme are involved in the National Centre for Energy Systems Integration, so students with an interest in Operational Research or Statistics problems in energy systems are also encouraged to apply.
Applications received by Friday 31 March will be assessed together, and applications received after that date will be assessed in order of receipt. Information on the formal application process may be found at http://www.maths.ed.ac.uk/school-of-mathematics/studying-here/pgr.
Enquiries may be directed towards Dr. Chris Dent (PhD admissions coordinator for the Theme, [log in to unmask]).
Please pass this on to anybody you think might be interested.
