Fixed term positions – 12 months initially
Full Time (37 hours per week) Salary: £17,000 – £26,000 depending on role and experience
Office/Home based
The GeoInformation Group (a Verisk Analytics Business) is a producer of geospatial data for GIS users across many industries. Our products are created and maintained by the Production Department within teams for each product group. The product teams for UKMap and UKBuildings both have exciting opportunites for additional production staff to help support maintenance on a temporary basis. Vacancies are for an initial 12 months, and may be extended.
For UKMap and UKBuildings we are seeking to recruit Mapping Technicians to work alongside the existing teams, helping to maintain the databases, provide support to the management team and offer technical solutions where necessary.
These positions require candidates to have a reasonable level of GIS knowledge, in both practical terms and fundamentals; a working knowledge of ArcGIS is important and some experience of using FME is desirable, although not essential.
Candidates must be spatially aware as well as spatially literate. These positions involve a combination of team and independent working. In return we offer a competitive salary, 25 days annual leave, pension scheme and health care.
The positions will strengthen the existing teams, principally ensuring the currency of UKMap and UKBuildings products are maintained.
The work in the UKMap team will involve identification of change against recent high resolution aerial surveys through to entity and attribution changes where required.
For UKBuildings the work will involve the classification of buildings into different types by making observations from high resolution imagery and fieldwork where appropriate. Having a general knowledge of building construction, building structure and design would be beneficial.
Roles can be based either at our office in Linton or from home. Successful candidates are required to attend an initial 3 week training course in Linton.
Desirable Skills, Knowledge & Experience:
• Ideally degree qualified, preferably in a geography/GIS discipline (but not mandatory).

• Ability to work co-operatively, as part of a team.
• Ability to work independently and manage own workload effectively
• Good people skills, a positive attitude and the ability to listen and provide feedback.
• Keen and self-motivated
• Methodical, neat, fast and accurate worker.
