Dear all,
I've been receiving some very warm and enthusiastic replies to the email
I sent out on Sunday 19th March. I would like to thank you all for such
encouraging feedback.
I would also like to take this opportunity to remind you all that if you
ever want to adjust your subscription (e.g. receive fewer emails) or
unsubscribe, you can do so by logging in here:
https://www.jiscmail.ac.uk
Finally, I noticed that in my previous email some of the characters,
such as apostrophes and quotation marks, resulted incompatible with the
server and were therefore converted into a range of different, and
rather random, symbols. Please accept my apologies. You can find the
correct version of the email here below.
Best wishes,
Jessica

Dear fellow members of the International Ecolinguistics Association,
My name is Jessica Iubini-Hampton, a student at the University of
Gloucestershire, and over the past two months I have had the privilege
of being your Membership Officer. I am enjoying this role enormously,
both as a way to contribute towards the growth of such an important
movement and for the pure pleasure of receiving warm and enthusiastic
e-mail requests to join the Association (with messages like "What a
fantastic initiative!" and "I am very interested and deeply impressed by
the studies on your website, which focus on the relationship between
language and the life-sustaining environment")
It's with great pleasure that I'm writing to say the IEA has now reached
541 members. This steady and strong growth is the result of like-minded
people willing to work together towards the same objectives. I would
like to thank you all for the enthusiasm and passion you shared with me
in your e-mails. Reading of your desire to contribute to our discipline
is invaluable. I'm certain that together our IEA can keep growing and
produce impacts on our current unsustainable society.
I've also been signing people up for the free online course Stories We
Live By, which is going live in May (http://storiesweliveby.org.uk). I'm
pleased to say that there are 117 people already registered!
best wishes,
Jessica
