Please find below a call for book chapters for the book series Caribbean Discourse in Inclusive Education.

Call for Chapters


The second volume in the Caribbean Discourse in Education Book Series “Responding to Differences and Learner Difficulty in Classrooms” invites critical reflection on the way schools and educational institutions, in general, respond to learner diversity, differences and difficulties students experience with learning in 21st Century classrooms.

The issue of how education and schools can respond to diversity is complicated given that it encompasses a whole range of factors that includes: the student's socio-economics status, race, culture, gender, religion, sexual orientation and identity, urban-rural differences, disability status, age, refugee status, whether students are from indigenous or nomadic groups and geopolitics.

We invite chapters that offer a critical analysis of how schools and educational institutions in the Caribbean, The Diaspora, and other international contexts are seeking to meet the challenges associated with diverse classrooms.  Contributions can be theoretical, empirical, cross-cultural, interdisciplinary, discursive, quantitative or qualitative in nature.

We invite Chapters on the following areas


1.     Catering to Learner Differences and Diversity

2.     Using Technology to Engage Learner Differences and Diversity

3.     Collaborative Partnerships

4.     Responsive Pedagogy, Curricula, and Assessment

5.     Cultural Responsiveness for Social Justice

6.     Responding to Learning Difficulties

7.     Meeting Learner Needs through Social Justice and Advocacy

8.     Meeting the Needs of Students- at-Risk

9.     Leadership in an Era of Diversity

10.  Preparing Teachers for Diverse Classrooms

11.  Reducing Exclusionary Practices in Education

12.  Supporting Student Diversity and Learner Difficulty



Both abstract and full papers on any area outlined above can be submitted for consideration. These should be original and not under review by any journal or conference review panel.

Submission of Abstracts or full papers
Abstracts should be submitted by June 23rd, 2017

Final Submission of Chapters
Final drafts of manuscripts are due by November 25th, 2017

Manuscript length
Manuscripts should be 25-30 pages [US letter] in length and should not exceed 7, 500 words submitted in Times New Roman 12, double spaced.  All manuscripts should conform to American Psychological Association Style (APA) including any tables, figures, and Artwork. We also ask that authors have their final chapters professionally proof read to avoid delays in the publishing process. A list of approved proof readers and services is available for the Editors.

Contributors are asked to note that this book will be published by Information Age Publishing and has an estimated completion date of April 2018.
